Audio Technica have been producers of quality audio products from the company's inception. They make particularly good headphones, and at first glance, their latest pair of over-ears off the production line won't let the side down.
We just received a fresh pair of Audio Technica's SQ5 over-ear headphones. In true gadget zone style we ripped them out of the package and started using them. We've only been playing with them for half an hour but opinions have started formulating already.
The look is a love it hate it affair. Frankly we love the look of the red SQ5s sitting on our desk. Wearing it is a different story though. You have to have a certain shape of head to be able to pull off the look of the SQ5 and be a rather confident trend setter to boot. No one at gadget zone fits that bill sadly.
The cans feel solid and are comfortable to wear, but we've only been wearing them for short bursts so far. Whether they will be comfortable over a long period of time is a completely different story. Sound quality at first glance is also exceptional. Plugged into a PC and listening to MP3s was actually a rather enjoyable experience, with deep bass that still allowed highlights at the top end.
A full review will follow shortly when we've had a decent crack at the SQ5 headphones.
