Corsair Flash Voyager Mini 4GB USB flash drive

By Damien Virulhapan, 6/11/2008 6:13:46 PM

Corsair's Voyager Mini USB flash drive is its smallest flash drive yet and still manages to pack in a respectable 4GB of storage into its tiny body

The Voyager Mini is encased in a water resistant and shock proof rubber housing with a capless USB connector that slides underneath the body of the drive. The Voyager Mini measures roughly 2cm wide by 3.5cm long (when the USB connector is retracted). Don't expect any fancy backup software or any bonus extras with the drive, as neither are included in the package.

At the rear end of the drive is a short string loop, similar to those on mobile phone charms, to keep the drive hooked onto a secure item. It’s a smart idea to use the loop if you’re not careful, as the Voyager Mini is small and light enough to get lost at the bottom of a bag or left in deep trouser pockets that get sent to the washing machine.

Handling the Voyager Mini wasn’t difficult despite its size, mainly due to the small humps located on either side of the body. The USB connector is retracted and extended by sliding the plastic grip at the bottom of the drive. There is no activity light on it, so you'll have to make sure you've finished transferring all your files before you unplug the device.

Due to its compact size, the Voyager Mini's USB connector does not have the metal pin shield found on most USB devices that protects it from electromagnetic interference. That's not to say that the drive will instantly die as soon as you plug it in, as most computer systems are very limited in the amount of the electromagnetic interference they emit and should not cause a problem in the majority of cases. But if something does go wrong that is out of your control, Corsair offers a 10-year warranty on the drive.
