iPhone watch: iPhone Black?

Just a day after apparent confirmation of the
3G iPhone
, it now seems like consumers will get their choice of colour as well, silver or black.
AppleInsider is reporting that AT&T wireless, the exclusive provider of iPhones to the American market, has begun to offer consumers the choice of either a standard iPhone or what they are calling an iPhone Black. Currently the iPhone is predominantly silver thanks to its aluminium back. This latest discovery seems to confirm the rumours that an iPhone with a black plastic back would be released.
On April 3,
iPod Observer
published photos of an iPhone with a gloss black plastic back. The images look startlingly similar to the gloss white plastic backed
iPhone pictures
that has also surfaced recently on the internet.
Gizmodo US chased AT&T for comment, who said that the iPhone Black option was simply a temporary place holder for a scheduled catalogue update. It’s hard to know what to believe now but it wouldn’t be the first time that an over eager company has jumped the Apple gun.
Speaking of which, Apple is still to comment on
Vodafone
, and now
Optus’s
, announcement that they will both offer the iPhone in Australia.
