iPhone watch: More 3G confirmation?

By Damian Francis, 5/15/2008 8:35:31 AM

Telefonica, owners of O2, who have won the right to sell the iPhone in Britain and Ireland, have cut prices on the current model by 100 pounds.

Added to the price drop, Matthew Key, chief executive of Telefonica O2 Europe, has announced that Apple and Telefonica would make a combined public statement in the coming weeks. With Apple boss Steve Jobs to take the stand at the World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 9, an announcement in a few weeks would fit in perfectly with an official launch of the 3G iPhone at the WWDC.

Days after we first reported that stock of the iPhone had vanished on the US and UK official online Apple stores, there is still no sign of replacement stock. Combine this with discounts on current stock by carriers around the world and you don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to have a stab at what’s going on.
