New bold portable DVD players

Sony’s new portable DVD players will keep you entertained for five hours straight and weigh in at only 730 grams. But is anyone still watching them?
With a slimline design, 7-inch screen, and USB slot, the new DVPFX720P and DVPFX720L portable DVD players (which replace the
Sony DVP-FX720W
pictured) look like they’ll do the business, even if the latter is pink! Luckily though, the 720L comes in midnight blue so the only excuse for having a pink portable DVD player in public is you actually wanted on (or you’re Damien Virulhapan and have lusted for one for years).
The new portable DVD players sport Dolby Pro Logic Down Mix and a remote control as well. But is anyone going to buy it? We’ve pointed out before that with laptops getting cheaper and so many people owning them now, surely that would be the way to go. The need for a stand-alone portable DVD player seems minimal, perhaps car trips only if you’re one of the poor suckers who isn’t driving around in a BMW 7 Series (and who isn’t these days?).
However, at $299, it’s a good enough price point to lure those teetering on the edge of buying one. Both models will be available June.
