By Damian Francis, 7/4/2008 8:09:05 AM

Good morning and welcome to gadget zone! It’s that time of the morning again, Overnightly time. And best of all, it’s also Friday. So tuck into some breakfast, suck down some coffee an open wide to digest the wide variety of consumer tech news we have coming your way.

Optus announce iPhone pricing
Following on from Telstra’s release of minimum details regarding their pricing, Optus has gone the whole hog and released the details to the public. So keen were consumers to find out what they would be paying on Optus that the site went down for a while but was quickly fixed. For all the details, click here.

ebay loses battle for PayPal supremacy
ebay will not be enforcing PayPal only payments on the online auction site. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) looked like it would crush ebays plans, citing uncompetitive behaviour and lack of choice for consumers. ebay has beaten them to the punch though by announcing they would not go ahead with the plan before the ACCC could reveal their decision.

ebay vice president Simon Smith stated that, "While we disagree with the ACCC's draft notice, we have decided to withdraw the notification to stop any further confusion and disruption among the eBay community.”

Free PS3 with a Full-HD Bravia promo working a charm
Despite the backlash from consumers after the last free PS3 with a Full-HD Bravia promo went sour, it seems as though consumers are still flocking to be part of it. The last promotion was fraught with problems when Sony failed to deliver to some consumers their PS3s months after they had been redeemed online.

Whether it’s a different story this time around is yet to be seen, but as of this morning at 7.27am 32,603 PS3s were left ater an initial stock of 35,000.

Sony OLEDs getting bigger, more expensive
Sony’s Stan Glasgow has hit the news again, this time after an interview with CNET. The major topic of discussion was OLED technology. He has said that development is going full-steam and that the next step is to produce an OLED screen that is 27-inches large and available to consumers, similar to the one they showed off at CES. Sony is also targeting a thinner screen than the current 3mm OLED.
