10 stressful technologies that can piss you off

By Damian Francis, 19/9/2008 11:17:46

Forbes has just released their top ten list of most stressful cities in America. What does this have to do with technology? Well, technology is a major cause of stress too. Think of how many lives have been lost due to faulty iPhones.

And the winner is… Chicago Illinios. That’s right, the Windy City is the most stressful city in the United States to live in. That gave us a few ideas that we’d like to put to the floor. What are the top ten most stressful cities in Australia? Do we even have ten cities in Australia big enough to be stressful (no, Darwin and Hobart don’t make the cut, sorry guys).

More to the point, what are the ten most stressful tech gizmos around at the moment? gadget zone has put together the ultimate list.

Sony PSP: The PSP is a great little device with some great games. But the battery life has a lot to be desired, the accessory pricing scheme is a bit of a joke and the 32MB card that comes with it instantly needs to be upgraded. Ever tried getting a DivX file to play on your PSP. That’s a mission in itself.

Windows Vista: Vista does some things very well. A lot of other stuff not so much. Gaming, for example. The amount of times we’ve installed a game only to spend the next half hour looking for where it was installed and how to open it isn’t countable. Yes, perhaps it may be 50 percent our fault, but shouldn't these new fangled operating systems be easy to use?

Apple iPhone: Sure, it does all hell and wonders, but it will do none of those if you happen to have fat fingers, like a few of us in the gadget zone offices do. We blame too many packets of those tiney lunch box crisps. Damn they're good. Getting to the right applications, music, photos and videos has never been more excruciating. If only the iPhone wasn’t so damn good lookin’

Nintendo Wii: The gaming console for the everyday person, that is aside from when you try to play with another everyday person. The friend code situation for online gaming is a bit on the poor side. Having said that though, we love it to bits for its games.

On the point about Vista....i have never had that problem....its either you are useto installing games or something....or when you are installing it you don't actually look where its going. And Vista installs the game exactly like XP

"Xbox 360: Red ring of death. Need we say more?" Yes : sccratched disks, lock ups, expensive peripherals (there goes the "cheap" arcade), a expensive line up cheaper on PC, excessive heat , lousy controllers that breaks every damn hour, restrictive XBL, racism, intolerance, fascism found online, expensive online service and bad online service, etc.

lol the link to this article made me laugh: "The red ring of death and the constant firmware updates" as if there the same thing. Not being mean to the xbox owners but my friends who own xboxs have had to send their xbox in (for usually over a month) almost as much as ive upgraded my firmware...First of all most of the upgrades bring some drastic improvements to your ps3, second of all they take what 20 minutes? If you have a problem with that you need to get a life. If anything i look forward to firmware upgrades. If people are complaining about ps3 it should be more along the lines of having to wait for epic games like versus XIII, the new ico game, GoW3 and services such home. Ps3 is good right now but im just saying it is going to get alot better over time
