Angrathar- The Wrath Gate

By Dave Jansen, 6/11/2008 11:05:11

The Wrath Gate is an area in north-eastern Dragonblight and is the stage for one of the longest quest chains in the expansion. The Alliance version begins at Wintergarde Keep and involves a lot of the history of the Lich King, emphasising why it is so important to stop him. Part of the quest chain gives you a glimpse of the past where you follow Arthas before he was consumed by Ner’Zul. You will see him betraying his troops at the forgotten shores and claiming Forstmourne with Muradin at his side.

The Horde version is starts at Westwind Refugee Camp and is more about crushing the forces that stand in the way of the Horde as they attempt to bring down Arthas. Whichever faction you are a part of, you will eventually find yourself at the Wrath Gate where an in-game cut scene plays showing you an epic battle that takes place there which has massive ramifications for both factions. You can watch the cut-scene in this video, but be warned. If you don’t want to ruin the surprise, don’t even press play.

After the cut-scene players are sent to the leaders of their factions where they learn that UnderCity has been taken over. Both factions enter the city in search of revenge for the events at the Wrath gate.  The Horde players are escorted by Thrall and Lady Sylvanas and the Alliance are escorted by Varian, King of Stormwind and Jaina Proudmore. By the end of the quest chain, any semblance of truce between the Horde and Alliance has been completely shattered. It’s a freaking incredible series of quests.
