Satellite navigation has made its way out of cars and into mobile phones, which means we now all have maps and directions at our fingertips.
THIS COMPETITION IS NOW CLOSED. THANKS FOR YOUR ENTRY!
The days of dedicated satnav devices for your car are over. These days you can just use your mobile phone for guidance instead.
You never plan to get lost, so it makes sense to have a GPS device in your pocket at all times. That way you can pull it out and get directions any time, whether you’re in your own car, a passenger in someone else’s or even wandering around on foot.
The Nokia 6110 Navigator is one of five mobile phones in the company’s range to have a built-in GPS receiver, along with the Nokia N95 and N95 8GB, Nokia N82 and Nokia E90 Communicator. Just like in-car satnav, these handsets can give you turn-by-turn guidance, attaching to your windscreen or dashboard using an optional mounting bracket.
And it’s not just about in-car navigation. With Nokia Maps 2.0 software you get Walk & Drive navigation, allowing you to get turn-by-turn guidance on foot as well as behind the wheel.
That’s not the only way Nokia’s navigation services are different. Unlike in-car satnav devices, you don’t need to shell out hundreds of dollars for the maps you require up front. Instead you subscribe to the maps you want, paying for turn-by-turn navigation by the week, month or year – great value when you go to another country on holiday or business and need to find your way around.
In fact, you don’t even need a phone with built-in GPS to enjoy many of the features of Nokia Maps 2.0. If you prefer you can plot your own route from A to B, downloading street-level maps from over 200 countries to your phone and browsing them for free.
Nokia Maps 2.0 is compatible with a number of
Nokia mobile devices
, with many more on the way, turning each of them into a portable road atlas to go. It sure beats carrying a suitcase full of maps with you on every trip you take.
But don’t just take our word for it, we’re giving you the chance to experience Nokia Maps and GPS services for yourself. We’ve got a Nokia 6110 Navigator worth $529 to give away, which comes with a three day trial of the turn-by-turn Navigation service.
To be in with a chance of winning this fantastic prize, scoot on over to
our blog
on the way forward for GPS navigation and answer the following question:
“How much is a one year subscription to Australian maps with Nokia Maps?”
Once you have the answer, email us at
